This created the necessity for hill top defences and consequently the many hill top towns, three of the most beautiful within 15 mins drive from us, with their local shops, typical restaurants and works of art. Human history goes deep in the area with the Etruscans (hence Tuscan) people, pre dating the romans, who first settled in this area over 3000 years ago, represented now by their tombs and the incredible museum in Cortona.
